First, cut the end off where it attaches to the bulb.
Put your knife on top of the clove.
Smash the clove down by pushing down on the knife with the palm of your hand right over the garlic.
My hand was on top, but I needed a third hand to take that photo. The peel should come right off as well as the sprout in the middle.
I heard that's where garlic breath comes from, from that little sprout. Is that an old wives' tale? Bet Google knows. Pin It
